Night out on the streets of Mumbai

****OM Gan Ganpataye Namah ****

We are going to start in the traditional way.So after a discusion of 4 hours and 44 minutes we had the verdict. Our first post(after the Opening ceremony) should start with the name of Lord Ganesha.

So going back to august 2009...the Ganpati festival is all over Mumbai and we are going for the LalBagh ka Raja darshan.(We've been doing this for last 3 years). We met on friday night at around 10pm at Dadar and moved to Chinchpokli.
Brief backgroud of the Lord :
Lalbagh cha Raja is the most famous and considered the most powerful of all ganpatis in the festival. You say the wish and he grants it!! Millions of people from all over Maharashtra come here and wait in queue for 8-10 hrs(sometimes even more) to get the lord's darshan. So whether we got the darshan or not, won't be discussed here :).

Back on the streets of Chinchpokli(PS: Chinch-Pokh-lee, the place has nothing to do with Bruce Lee or Jett Lee...bad joke for the starters ;))
So after visiting the lalbagh ka raja we roamed around the streets of dadar-parel-byculla for the whole night to check out hows the other Ganesh mandals doing. I have added some of the interesting things we got on the way.

The entrance of one of the Ganpati mandal. We had to pass through the ghost's mouth to see the Ganesh idol.It scared the shit out of me!!But that didn't stop us from getting the darshan. Somehow it reminds me of the hollywood movie scream!

We never thought about Gandhi's colour before seeing this.

Opening Ceremony

We've been thinking of keeping a record of our trips and outings since long. After going through a lot of other options we have decided that it will be a blog. So today on 23rd May, 2010 we--Vijesh,Nagendra,Mandar,Akshay{ in alphabetical order starting from last ;) } -- start our official blog!!

Cheers!!!
